In the world of fashion blogging, Tavi Gevinson is a hugely popular name. A very well-known blogger, Gevinson has published a book, commandeered a site with a massive following, and been a staple at several of the world's most popular fashion shows.
And she is only sixteen.
At the age of eleven, Gevinson, of Chicago, started a blog, with a focus on a range of topics appealing to teen girls. The site, initially created to give Gevinson a way to express herself in her middle school years. The site soon started to see 50,000 hits per day, and the young Gevinson soon started to look for ways to expand. Citing the absence of a magazine for real teen girls like herself, Gevinson went on to create www.thestylerookie.com, a site dedicated to the teen experience from a different angle.
"I decided to make a website and now a book that didn't talk down to teenagers and had beautiful art, fine articles about TV and all of that," Gevinson said in a recent interview.
Gevinson's newest projects have expanded her audience, making her a household name. She has appeared on several different television and radio shows, and commands a 109K Twitter following. We applaud Tavi Gevinson and look forward to her upcoming projects.
