First Lady and Fashion Phenom: Michelle Obama

Undoubtedly, First Lady Michelle Obama is a style icon.

Fans of fashion are used to seeing Mrs. Obama gracing their TV screens, the covers of popular magazines and the front pages of mainstream blogs very frequently, solidifying her role as a style superstar. A book about the FLOTUS' fashion has been published and there is even a Huffington Post page, Michelle Obama Style, dedicated to her many different looks.

Designers have been known to tirelessly court Mrs. Obama, hoping that she steps out in one of their signature pieces. She has topped many best-dressed lists for her sense of style often described as a well-tailored blend of classic elegance, femininity and perfectly poised professionalism.

Mrs. Obama has stunned in gowns by Vera Wang, Marchesa, Naeem Khan, and more, and pulled off the pretty and professional look in Preen, Jason Wu, and others. Many of her more famous looks, like the 2009 Jason Wu gown worn to that year's inaugural ball have become part of history, securing Mrs. Obama's position as a truly stylish First Lady, some even putting her in the same league as another famous "Mrs. O", the beloved Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, wife of 35th President John F. Kennedy.

Like most style starlets, though, Mrs. Obama is often criticized for some of her outfits, but she doesn't let the catty comments mess with her class and confidence. "Women, wear what you love," she is quoted here as saying. "That's all I can say. That's my motto."

What do you think of the FLOTUS' style?
